Record the existing or proposed opening
Manhole covers are included in TONA's product groupings. Start the inquiry with the opening that the proposed cover arrangement must address. Provide the location reference and a drawing showing the relevant dimensions. Distinguish a measured existing opening from a new opening still under design. The cover inquiry should remain connected to the actual site detail rather than a nominal description copied from another project.
Show the frame relationship
Clarify whether the request includes a frame or concerns a cover for an existing frame. If an existing frame is involved, provide its relevant dimensions and photographs of the interface. Ask the project reviewer to identify the measurements needed for a meaningful comparison. A cover outline and an opening dimension are different pieces of information, and both may be needed to define the arrangement being discussed.
Supply the designer's requirements
The responsible project designer should define the conditions and selection requirements for the installation location. Include those requirements in the inquiry and ask what information accompanies a proposed arrangement for review. Do not treat a category name as a statement of a particular rating or approval. Keep any question that requires engineering assessment visible until the responsible reviewer has evaluated the proposed information.
Clarify access and identification
Describe the access arrangement and any identification wording requested by the project. Mark the intended orientation when it affects how the assembly is used. Ask which details would be shown on the offered drawing and which items remain outside the supply scope. Where several access points differ, use a schedule that links every cover reference to its opening rather than combining them under one generic quantity.
Compare the proposal against the schedule
Provide the item list, opening references and destination with the quotation request. Ask that exclusions and differences be recorded against the relevant item. The purchasing review should check the proposed assembly description as well as the commercial terms. Resolve drawing mismatches before approving an order, especially when an existing frame or a revised opening means a visually similar cover arrangement may represent a different requirement.
