State the processing purpose
SMC sheets are included in TONA's product categories. Describe the part or processing project for which the sheet material is being considered. Identify whether you are discussing a new component, an existing drawing or a change to an established purchasing specification. The material inquiry needs its own requirements; a finished part photograph alone does not define the sheet material to be evaluated.
Provide the material specification reference
Use the current material specification to identify the characteristics your team needs to assess. Mark requirements that are mandatory and questions that remain open. If no specification has yet been approved, describe that status and the evaluation work still required. Ask for a proposed material description to be reviewed by the person responsible for the process rather than selecting from a generic category name.
Explain the production interface
Outline the processing arrangement relevant to the inquiry, including the proposed component and the equipment information your technical team considers necessary. Keep the discussion focused on compatibility questions that must be answered for that process. Do not assume that a material offered under the same broad name can be substituted without review. Record changes to the proposed material separately from changes to the part design.
Plan sample and record identification
Decide how samples will be identified and linked to the evaluation records. State the documents needed by the person approving the material and the criteria that will be used to compare proposals. A sample result should remain connected to the sample reference and the conditions under which it was evaluated. Ask how the proposed order material will be described in the purchasing documents.
Define the quotation unit
Make clear whether the request concerns trial material or a planned purchasing requirement. Provide the quantity basis, receiving location and any packaging questions that affect your own handling arrangements. Ask for commercial terms to be confirmed for the actual request. Where the project also requires molding or tooling, identify those as separate scope items so the sheet inquiry does not silently become a finished component order.
