Begin with the project design
SMC septic tanks are listed in the TONA range. The project requirement should be established by the party responsible for wastewater design before purchasing comparisons begin. Describe the proposed use and provide the relevant design documents. A product category does not establish the capacity, arrangement or suitability required for an individual site, and a purchasing inquiry should keep those project decisions explicit.
Separate capacity from external dimensions
Record the capacity requirement provided by the designer and identify the terminology used in that requirement. Ask for the proposed tank information to distinguish internal volume from external dimensions. The space available for installation is a separate coordination issue. A larger outline on a drawing should not be used as a substitute for a written statement of the capacity being discussed.
Show the site interfaces
Provide a site plan with inlet and outlet locations, access points and the relationship to nearby construction. Identify information that remains subject to site investigation or design approval. Ask how the offered arrangement relates to the current plan. The project team needs to coordinate the tank with surrounding work rather than treat the component as a standalone solution without inlet, outlet or access constraints.
Define the package and review responsibilities
List the components and documents that you want included in the proposal. Clarify which installation work and connections belong to the contractor. Ask the responsible professional to identify the evidence required before an order can be approved. Keep treatment design questions within that review; a supplier inquiry cannot replace the project assessment or establish permission to install a system at the site.
Prepare capacity questions for the next step
Use the capacity confirmation guide to organize terminology, project inputs and drawing references. Include the intended destination and an item schedule when requesting a quotation. If more than one tank arrangement is being considered, label each alternative separately. A clear comparison should show the differences in scope and the remaining design questions before any alternative is selected for purchasing.
